RIVERSIDE, Calif.--The University of Hawai'i men's and women's diving teams competed in the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events on Friday on the opening day of the CBU Invite at the Lancer Aquatics Center. The Hawai'i divers went up against divers from Denver, San Diego State and host Cal Baptist. A pair of Hawai'i freshmen led both the Rainbow Warriors and Wahine with Tristan Rodrigues and Keira Chanler both finishing second. The women's team finished strong, claimed five of the top seven places.

For the Rainbow Warriors, Rodrigez who is a true freshman from Katy, Texas held off Denver's Colin Breuer by five points to claim silver on the 1-meter board. Rodriguez finished with a total score of 275.25. Juan Esteban Ramirez Tamayo finished fourth with a total of 270.06, just 5/100ths behind Breuer's 270.10. UH rookie Oliver Wignall cam in ninth with a 225.85.

One of the highlights of the day was Chandler claimed her first silver for Hawai'i with a total score of 290.30 which qualified her for the NCAA Zone Championships. Chandler's score was just three points behind the winner, San Diego State's Isabella Gomez's 293.35. The rest of the 'Bows finished all in a row, coming in fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh with about 20 points separating them all. Junior Ruby Pickron came in with a 274.10 to finish fourth, while sophomore Avery Coates claimed fifth with a total of 270.55. Sophomores Macie Wheeler and Lovisa Gusavsson finished in sixth and seventh respectively with scores of 267.20 and 255.55.

The Hawai'i divers will conclude the CBU Invite on Saturday at the Lancers Aquatic Center on the campus of Cal Baptist in Riverside, Calif..
