TEMPE, Ariz.—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team continued to compete on Day 2 of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Southwest Regionals at the Kiwanis Tennis Center in Tempe, Ariz on Friday.
 
Senior Azuma Visaya, who had a bye on Thursday, advanced to the Main Draw's Round of 32 coming from behind after dropping his first set against UC Irvine's Rui Ning Huang. Visaya cruised through the final two sets for the three-set victory, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.  Visaya will take on Arizona's Cole Stelse on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. HT.
 
Also in the Main Draw, UH's Kosuke Nakanishi captured the first set, but fell by a break in the second and in a third set tie-breaker to fall in three to Arizona's Pepijn Bastiaansen, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (3)
 
In the doubles main draw, Hawai'i's duo of Timothy Li and Kent Mueller edged out Grand Canyon's Brice Patoux and Daniel Jankoski by two points in a tie-breaker, 8-7 (5). Li and Mueller will take on UC Santa Barbara's Lorenzo Brunkow/Diogo Morais on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. HT. UH's pair of Visaya and Nakanishi had a bye in today's first round and will face Grand Canyon's Andreas Loizas/Tristan Berard on Saturday.
 
In a consolation match, UH's Maeda swept UC Riverside's Jovan Pedroza, 6-4, 6-3.
