Matsuzawa Selected To Numerous Midseason All-America Teams

HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i kicking sensation Kansei Matsuzawa was selected to numerous midseason All-America teams including the Associated Press, The Athletic, Athlon Sports, CBS Sports, Sports Illustrated, and the Sporting News.

Matsuzawa, a senior from Tokyo, Japan, is the FBS leader in field goals made (19), field goals attempted (19), field goal percentage (1.000), field goals per game (2.71), and points (76). He is also tied with the most field goals of 40+ yards (8).

He set UH and Mountain West records for consecutive field goals to start a season, having made all 19 of his attempts thus far. Dating back to last season, Matsuzawa has converted 20 straight field goals which tied the UH record held by all-time great Jason Elam. He is also on the verge of breaking the school's all-time single-season mark of 21.

Nicknamed "Tokyo Toe", Matsuzawa has captivated college football with his inspiring story of resilience, having learned how to kick by watching YouTube videos and learned how to speak English from his junior college teammates at Hocking College in Ohio. He has been featured by numerous national media outlets, including CNN, NBC News, The Athletic, and The Sporting News.

Matsuzawa has been named Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week four times this season and was selected as a Lou Groza Award Star of the Week for Week 1.
