Jordan Wedderburn and freshman
Ema Vernoux scored four goals each to lead the fifth-ranked Rainbow Wahine water polo team to a 19-4 victory over Cal State Fullerton to open the Triton Invitational on Friday at UC San Diego's Triton Pool in La Jolla, Calif.

Stevilyn Griffin posted her second hat trick of the season, sophomore
Esmee Roijen and freshman
Gabrielle Doyle added two goals apiece, and the Rainbow Wahine improved to 5-1 with their fourth straight win and the 499
th in program history.
Daisy Logtens got the start in goal and made four saves while playing the first quarter. Freshman
Nalani Yim (four saves) and
Evelyn Miller (three saves) shared time in goal over the final three periods and UH handed Cal State Fullerton (4-1) its first loss of the season.
The 'Bows will next face No. 7 Fresno State on Saturday at noon Pacific Time (10:00 a.m. Hawai'i time) at UCSD's Canyonview Pool.
The 'Bows took command early in Friday's matchup with fellow Big West member Cal State Fullerton. Wedderburn opened the scoring with her first goal at the 5:26 mark of the first quarter and Griffin followed with back-to-back goals to give UH a 3-0 lead. Vernoux scored her first goal with 1:53 left in the period and Doyle found the net with 13 seconds remaining.
Wedderburn scored UH's first two goals of the second quarter and the 'Bows opened up a 7-0 lead before the Titans broke through at the 4:48 mark. Griffin completed her hat trick with 1:46 left and Roijen scored in the final minute to send UH into halftime leading 9-1.
Vernoux scored three goals in the third quarter, the last coming just before the buzzer. Wedderburn posted her fourth goal early in the fourth quarter and
Silvanne Slot and
Emilia Schorr closed out the scoring for the 'Bows.
Fresno State (4-3) opened the tournament with a 10-9 win in overtime against No. 15 UC Santa Barbara in Friday's first match at Triton Pool. The winner of Saturday's UH-Fresno State match advances to a semifinal match set for 5:50 p.m. PT (3:50 HT) at Triton Pool. The loser falls into a consolation bracket match at 5:20 p.m. PT (3:20 p.m HT) at Canyonview Pool. The tournament concludes on Sunday with placement matches.
