Box Score HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (1-1) put up a good fight, but fell to Washington, 6-1 on a slightly soggy Friday night at the UH Tennis Complex. The match was stalled for awhile during a rain delay during the singles matches.

In doubles, the Rainbow Wahine won the opening match on Court #3 with Hannah Galindo and Makeilah Nepomuceno knocked off UW's McKenna Koenig and catherin Gagnon, 6-2. The Huskies 115th-ranked Erika Matsuda and Sophie Luesher held off UH's Peppi Ramstedt and Sheena Masuda on the #2 Court, 6-3. Washington's 37th-ranked Alexia Jacobs and Reece Carter edged out Hawai'i's No. 1 Ana Vilcek and Nikola Homolkova by a break to win the doubles point, 6-4.

Although the Huskies clinched the match winning the first three singles matches, the Rainbow Wahine kept fighting. UH's lone win was recorded on the No. 3 court as Ramsted closed out the match by gutting out a tough, straight set victory over Alexia Jacobs, 7-6 (4), 6-4. On the No. 2 court, UH's Nikola Homolkova fought hard, but fell by a break in both sets to 121st-ranked Carter, 6-4, 7-5. UH's No. 1 Vilcek fell by a break in the first set before UW's Masuda pulled away in the second frame, 7-5, 6-2.

The Rainbow Wahine opens their conference season against CSUN on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 11:00 a.m. HT as the 'Bows continue their month-long homestand to start the season.
