BERKELEY, Calif. — The University of Hawai'i men's and women's dive teams concluded day two of the Cal Invitational at the Legends Aquatic Center in Berkeley, Calif.
In the preliminary round of the women's 1-meter dive, freshman Macie Wheeler was UH's top finisher. She qualified for the final round finishing in 10th with a mark of 261.05. UH's Ruby Pickron came in 17th-place with a 238.45 while Avery Coates finished in 19th-place with a score of 236.85. In the championship round, Wheeler placed eighth with a score of 261.00. Wheeler's highest-scoring dive of the championship round was a Forward 2-1/3 Somersault Pike which garnered a 46.80.
In the men's 3-meter qualifying round, Juan Esteban Ramirez Tamayo finished in seventh place with a score of 349.70 to propel him to the championship round. In the finals, Tamayo earned a ninth place finish with a mark of 325.90. Tamayo's highest scoring dive of the day was a Forward 3-1/2 Somersault Pike which earned a 68.20.
The Cal Invitational wraps up tomorrow starting at 9:00 a.m. HT (11:00 p.m. PT) with the men's and women's platform dives.
