Men's Basketball Looks To Bounce Back Versus CSU Bakersfield On Saturday

HONOLULU  The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team looks to rebound off a tough conference loss when it hosts CSU Bakersfield on Saturday, Jan. 18. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. at the SimpliFi Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center. 

The Rainbow Warriors (11-6, 3-3 Big West) saw their three straight game win streak snapped with an 83-60 loss to CSUN on Thursday. It was the program's largest margin of defeat in a Big West home game. CSU Bakersfield  (9-9), winners of three of its last four games, come to town tied with UH in the conference standings at 3-3.

GAME STORY LINES
  • The Rainbow Warriors are 4-1 coming off a loss this year with an average margin of victory of 7.3 points per game.     
  • UH's 83-60 loss to CSUN was the sixth-largest margin of defeat for UH in a Big West game and its largest ever at home.
  • The 23-point loss marked just the eight time in 275 games under Eran Ganot that UH lost by 20 or more points.
  • UH was out-rebounded for just the third time in 17 games this season.
  • UH was out-scored in the second half for just the fifth time in 17 games this season.
  • True freshman Aaron Hunkin-Claytor, who scored a career-high 10 points vs. CSUN, became the 7th different player to lead UH in scoring this season.
  • He's also the eighth different player to contribute double-digit scoring off the UH bench this year.
  • CSUB has won three of its last four BW games, including a 94-90 win over CSUN in which the Roadrunners overcame a 23-point deficit.
  • Junior guard Jemel Jones scored a school-record 45 points in the win and leads the team at 17.5 ppg while shooting 50% FG and 40% 3FG.
  • CSUB leads the Big West and ranks 8th nationally in 3FG% (.404), including 44% in conference.
  • UH has won six straight in the series with the last three decided by double-digits.
  • Following its game vs. CSUN, the 'Bows will play road games at UC Davis (Jan. 23) and UC Irvine (Jan. 25).
