Women's Volleyball Adds Five Newcomers for 2025 Season

HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's volleyball head coach Robyn Ah Mow announced the additions of five newcomers — four transfers and a freshman — to the Rainbow Wahine roster for the 2025 season.

The group of transfers joining the Rainbow Wahine is comprised of 6-foot-3 middle blocker Bri Gunderson (Eastern Washington), 6-foot sophomore setter Audrey Hollis (UC San Diego), 6-foot-3 outside hitter/opposite Lois Hansen (UC Santa Barbara), and 5-foot-8 libero/defensive specialist Leilani Lopez (Cal State Fullerton). Also joining the program for the spring will be freshman outside hitter Cha'lei Reid from Kahuku High School.

The newcomers, including two who received conference honors last season, are enrolled for the 2025 spring semester and will participate in the team's offseason training program.

"I am very excited for these five student-athletes to join our program this spring," Ah Mow said. "Bri, Audrey, Lois and Leilani add experience, depth and maturity at their respective positions and they will compete the moment practices begin. Cha'lei comes in a semester early and will gain valuable experience this spring which will lay the foundation for her career here at Manoa.

"All five student-athletes will get a small taste of Wahine Volleyball in our spring matches this March and I can't wait to see them add to the program's culture that is set in place with the returners."

Gunderson will have one season of eligibility at UH after spending two years at BYU and playing the last two at Eastern Washington. She earned All-Big Sky first team honors last season after making the all-conference second team in 2023. As a redshirt junior in 2024, Gunderson led the Big Sky and ranked fifth in the nation with 1.54 blocks per set. Her average set a school record and she finished the season 21st nationally with 157 total blocks. She started all 27 matches and recorded four performances with double-digit blocks. She also ranked second on the team with 2.83 kills per set while hitting .311 and posted three double-doubles, including a 20-kill, 12-block performance against Montana State and a season-high 21 kills with 10 blocks against Northern Arizona. She also led the Eagles with 37 service aces last season.

Hollis was named to the 2024 Big West All-Freshman team after finishing the season fifth in the conference with 8.86 assists per set. She was a two-time Big West Setter of the Week (Oct. 21 and Nov. 11) and posted nine double-doubles for the season. She recorded season highs of 53 assists and 16 digs against UC Irvine on Oct. 19. She also put away 57 kills on the season with a high of 15 to go along with 22 assists against UC Riverside on Sept. 26. She also served up 17 aces. The graduate of Village High School in Colorado Spring, Colo., helped UCSD qualify for the Big West Championship in the Tritons' first year of eligibility.

Hansen appeared in UC Santa Barbara's first 10 matches as a redshirt freshman in 2024 and averaged 1.63 kills per set over that span. She had a season-high 19 kills in 43 swings (.326) and five blocks against San Diego on Sept. 8 and posted a season-high seven blocks against St. John's on Sept. 7. She was an all-league performer at Yorba Linda (Calif.) High School before redshirting at UCSB in 2023.

Lopez played in 51 matches and 168 sets over two seasons at Cal State Fullerton and posted 118 digs in the Titans' back row. She also served up 25 aces as a freshman in 2023 and had 14 more last season. She will be a second-generation member of the Rainbow Wahine 'ohana, following in the path of her mother, Kristal Attwood, who played for UH from 1990 to '93 and earned All-Big West honors as a senior.

Reid graduated from Kahuku High School in the fall and enrolled at UH for the 2025 spring semester. She racked up 103 kills in her senior season at Kahuku with a season-high of 22. She closed the season with 32 kills in two championship bracket matches in the HHSAA Division I Girls Volleyball Championship. As a sophomore in 2022, she ranked fifth on the Honolulu Star-Advertiser's All-State Fab 15 and was a Scoring Live All-Hawaii first-team selection. She made the All-State Fab 15 again as a senior and was an All-Hawaii second-team pick.

Details of UH's spring exhibition matches will be announced at a later date.
