MISHIMA, Japan – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team kicked off the Pan Pacific Super League Tournament with a first round 312 Wednesday and are currently tied for sixth place among the 15-team field.
Waseda University leads the field at 4-under 284 while Nihon University is one stroke back. UH is one of American universities in the field and one of two Division I schools along with Central Michigan.
Dane Watanabe was UH's top finisher on the day, firing a 3-over 75 and is tied for 13
th place.
Garrett Takeuchi carded a 78 while
James Whitworth was one stroke back at 79.
Josh Hayashida and
Tyler Ogawa each shot 80.
The second round continues on Thursday.
