ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team completed its season-opening tournament in 15^th place following the final round of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational Tuesday at the UNM Championship Course.
 
The Rainbow Wahine carded a final round 317 for a 939 total. Big West rival Long Beach State captured the team title at 1-under 863 while Pepperdine's Lauren Gomez took medalist honors at 11-under 205.
 
UH's top finisher was Emiko Sverduk, who posted a final round 79 for a 231 total and tie for 60^th place. Maline Kraus and Laurent Pierce tied for 70^th at 235. Syamala Varnika Achanta and Kellie Yamane each shot 80 on Tuesday to finish 76^th and a tie for 79^th at 238 and 241, respectively.
 
The Rainbow Wahine will next compete in the Ron Moore Intercollegiate, Oct. 4-6 in Highlands Ranch, Colo.
