2024-25 Big West Men’s Basketball Schedule Released

HONOLULU—The Big West Conference announced its 2024-25 regular-season schedule on Thursday with the University of Hawai'i men's basketball team engaging in an 11-week,  20-game regular-season slate.

As revealed by the Big West last week, the conference will have its earliest start date ever, with league play beginning in the first week of December. The extended schedule not only provides early-season intrigue but also eliminates three-game weeks and allows for a consistent Thursday/Saturday format for the entirety of Big West action.

UH opens up conference play with a single-game road contest at Long Beach State on Saturday, Dec. 7. The Beach, which won last year's Big West Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, is under the new leadership of Chris Acker, a former UH assistant coach.

After playing non-conference games the rest of  December, UH returns to Big West play at home, kicking off 2025 with home games versus UC Santa Barbara (Jan. 2) and Cal Poly (Jan. 4).  Other home games of note include a clash versus defending regular-season champion UC Irvine on February 15 and the regular-season rematch with Long Beach State two nights prior on Feb. 13. UH will host its Senior Night finale on March 1 versus UC Davis.

For the 10th time in the last 11 seasons, UH will conclude the season on the road, this time with games at CSU Bakersfield (March 6) and CSUN (March 8).

From there, the 'Bows will head to the Big West Championship, which will once again be at the Lee's Family Forum (formerly the Dollar Loan Center) in Henderson, Nev. For the second straight year it will be a four-day, eight-team event in which the top two seeds get double byes into the semifinals. The Nos. 3 and 4 seeds get a single bye past the first round. This season's tournament will run March 12-15.

UH returns seven players from last year's roster that went 20-14 overall and 11-9 in the Big West. Among the returnees are senior guard Ryan Rapp, who started 18 games last year, as well as sophomore Akira Jacobs, who represented Japan in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Meanwhile, the 'Bows welcome an influx of talented and diverse newcomers, highlighted by graduate transfers Tanner Christensen and Marcus Greene (Houston Christian).

All Big West regular-season contests are slated for telecast on ESPN+, and additional linear schedules will be announced this fall. UH's complete  non-conference slate of games will be announced soon.
