UH Finishes Third In Commissioner’s Cup Ranking

IRVINE, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i finished in third place in the final 2023-24 Dennis Farrell Big West Commissioner's Cup standings, its second top three finish in the last three seasons.

UH finished with an average of 130.0 points, behind champion Cal Poly (149.4) and Long Beach State (130.6). Hawai'i finished second in 2021-22, its best-ever finish since joining the league in 2012. UH also finished third in that inaugural season.

The Commissioner's Cup is awarded annually to the institution with the highest average point total following the 18 conference-sponsored sport seasons. Points are distributed based on the order of finish during either the regular season or in the championship.

First awarded after the 1998-99 season, the Commissioner's Cup was renamed in honor of Dennis Farrell, who served as Big West Commissioner for 28 years before his retirement in 2020.

UH, which led the standings after the winter sports season, received first place points in three sports – women's basketball, beach volleyball, and women's water polo – and second place points in one other – women's volleyball.
