HONOLULU – Fueled by a combined effort by nine pitchers and a steady offensive attack, the Hawai'i baseball team got back in the win column with a 10-1 victory over Hawai'i Pacific Tuesday at Les Murakami Stadium.
UH (16-10) used nine different arms for one inning each, with the pitchers combining to hold the Sharks to a run on seven hits while striking out seven and walking just one.
Harrison Bodendorf got the win after tossing a scoreless first inning in the declared staff game while seven other pitchers worked shutout frames.
The 'Bows got out to an early lead with a pair of runs in each of the first two innings. An RBI groundout and a sacrifice fly made it 2-0 after one inning before
Jared Quandt tripled home a run in the second and an
Elijah Ickes RBI groundout made it 4-0.
After HPU (19-16) pushed across a run in the fourth,
Jake Tsukada answered with a leadoff homer to right field to stretch the lead back to four. UH plated two more on a couple of run-scoring groundouts in the sixth before a
Jordan Donahue RBI double and a Tsukada single stretched the lead to 9-1 through seven.
Tsukada led the way offensively, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBIs.
