Women's Tennis Wraps Up Regular Season at CSUN

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.--The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (9-10, 6-2 Big West) wraps up their regular season with a single dual match on Sunday, April 21st at 8:00 a.m. HT at CSUN (12-5, 6-1 Big West) at the Matador Tennis Complex. Currently, Hawai'i sits in third place behind 53rd-ranked UC Santa Barbara who still remains undefeated in conference action with a 11-7 overall record and a 6-0 mark in conference. CSUN is currently in second place with a 12-5 overall record and a 6-1 Big West record. The Matadors play the Gauchos on Saturday prior to facing Hawai'i on Sunday. With UCSB and CSUN having two matches left and UH having the one left, the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Big West Championship is still up for grabs with seedings to be determined in the last few days of the regular season.

  • Both freshman Nelly Knezkova and junior Nikola Homolkova lead UH in singles coming into this week with 11 singles wins. Knezkova has a team-best 11-6 overall record, going 5-2 on the No. 1 court and 6-4 playing at No. 2. Homolkova has been solid all year playing all matches at No. 3 and has recorded an 11-7 dual match record. 
  • Junior Ana Vilcek and Knezkova have split time laying at No. 1 this season. Vilcek is currently 9-7 overall.
  • Doubles troubles - UH has won their doubles point just twice this season--most recently in their sweep over UC Riverside last week
  • In doubles, Vilcek leads UH with a 6-7 doubles record, going 4-5 with Homolkova and 2-2 with Knezkova
