Men’s Basketball Signs Experienced Post Player

HONOLULU -- University of Hawai'i men's basketball coach Eran Ganot announced the addition of graduate transfer Tanner Christensen to the 2024-25 Rainbow Warriors roster. Christensen will have one year of eligibility at UH after playing his previous four seasons at Utah Tech and Idaho.

At 6-10, 275-pounds, Christensen brings size, skill and experience to the UH frontcourt. The native of Spokane, Wash., has played in 113 career games with 93 starts during his collegiate career. He started all 63 games the last two seasons with Utah Tech. The past year he averaged 11.5 points and shot 56.4 percent from the floor, while adding 6.8 rebounds per game and 48 blocks. He has also displayed the ability to stretch the floor with 15 three-pointers made in his two years with the Trailblazers.

"We are thrilled to welcome Tanner and his wife Emilie to our 'ohana," Ganot said. "He's a true center that brings toughness, physicality, rebounding, shot blocking and a scoring presence. He also possesses the intangibles -- high character, a relentless work ethic and strong leadership abilities - that will really help lift our program."

Prior to Utah Tech, Christensen suited up at Idaho for two seasons. In his second year with the Vandals, he started 27 of 28 games played while averaging 8.5 points on 57.3 percent shooting, along with 6.4 rebounds per game. As a true freshman, he played in 22 games with three starts.

Christensen served a two-year church mission in Argentina prior to beginning college. He speaks Spanish fluently and holds an undergraduate degree in finance and is nearing a master's in accounting at Utah Tech.
