LAS VEGAS, Nev. – University of Hawai'i's
Kellie Yamane is tied for eighth place after the second round of the Big West Women's Golf Championship Monday at the Spanish Trail Country Club.
Yamane carded a 2-over 74 and is 6-over 150 for the championship. The 'Aiea, O'ahu native is 12 strokes off the lead held by Jasmine Leovao, who is 6-under 138 and the only golfer under par among the 45-player field. Yamane had three blemishes on her scorecard with two birdies on Nos. 10 and 17.
As a team, the Rainbow Wahine sit in sixth place at 613 after a second round 303, which was the fourth-best team score of the day. Long Beach State (582) has a 10 stroke lead over three-time defending champion Cal Poly (592) followed by UC Davis (601), UC Riverside (611), and Cal State Fullerton (612).
Emiko Sverduk and
Jordyn Parr each posted 75 and are tied for 17
th place at 10-over 154.
Wendy Song is tied for 23
rd at 155 after a 79 on Monday.
Monica Johnson shot 86 and is in 45
th at 175.
Tuesday's final round begins with split tees at 8:00 a.m. PT. The Rainbow Wahine are paired with UCR and CSU Fullerton and will tee off on No. 1 at 8:00 a.m. PT.
