KOHALA COAST, Hawai'i – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team carded a second round 8-under 280 at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate Friday at the Mauna Lani North Course.
The Rainbow Warriors sit in 16
th place with a 11-under 565 total entering Saturday's final round.
Three UH golfers went under par on the day led by
Kolbe Irei and
Josh Hayashida, who each shot 3-under 69. Irei is the team's top individual at 5-under for the tournament and tied for 48
th place. Hayashida is even par and tied for 82
nd.
Tyler Ogawa shot 2-under 70 and is 1-over for the tournament and tied for 89
th while
Dane Watanabe posted even par 72 and is 3-under and tied for 59
th.
Blaze Akana is tied for 96
th at 2-over for the tourney after a 3-over 75 on Friday.
Isaiah Kanno is competing as an individual and is tied for 107
th at 4-over after his second straight 74.
Second-ranked North Carolina leads the team standings at 46-under 530 followed by top-ranked Auburn and No. 7 Arizona State, who are three strokes back at 533. Individually, ASU's Wenyi Ding is atop the leaderboard at 17-under 127 while Auburn's Jackson Koivun and Washington's Finn Koelle are three shots back.
The tournament wraps up the third and final round on Saturday with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.
