Men's Basketball Begins Final Stretch Run On The Road

DAVIS, Calif. With just four regular-season games remaining, the University of Hawai'i men's basketball team (16-12, 8-8 Big West) heads to the road for a pair of games beginning with a match-up versus UC Davis (16-12, 11-6) on Thursday, Feb. 29. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. PT/4 p.m. HT at the University Credit Union Center.

Both teams are jockeying for position in next month's Big West Championship as each squad is riding different momentum. The Rainbow Warriors have won six of its last eight contests, while the Aggies have dropped four of their last five.

GAME STORY LINES
  • After starting the Big West season 2-6, the Rainbow Warriors have won six of their last eight contests to move back to .500 in conference.
  • In its lone game last week, UH toppled Long Beach State, 73-65, led by Justin McKoy's 26 points and Noel Coleman's 18.
  • UC Davis, meanwhile, lost for the fourth time in the last five games with a 75-56 setback at CSU Bakersfield on Saturday.
  • In the first meeting between the teams on Feb. 10, the Aggies fell to the 'Bows 87-70 in Honolulu.
  • The Aggies look for a season split in Davis, where they have won the last three games in the series.  
  • UH is in sixth in the Big West and just a half game out of fifth and a potential top-four seed in next month's Big West Championship. UC Davis sits in third place with its eye on a top-two seed.
  • In the last five contests, Justin McKoy is averaging 19.4 ppg, 6.6 rpg while shooting 62% from the floor, 55% on 3s (11-of-20) and 86% (24-of-28) from the line. UH is 4-1 during that stretch.
  • UH is shooting a combined 46% from 3 in its last five games (49-of-106), hitting no less than 9 3-pointers in each of the games.
