LIHU'E, Kaua'i – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team battled through a second round 303 Friday at the 47^th John A. Burns Intercollegiate at the Ocean Course Hokuala. As a team, the Rainbow Warriors shot 3-over on the front and 12-over on the back nine.
 
UH dropped to a tie for 18^th place in the team standings. No. 10 Arizona leads the field at 9-under 567 while Grand Canyon (569) is two strokes back. In the individual standings, Fresno State's Joseph Lloyd has a one stroke lead at 8-under 136 ahead of Georgia Southern's Hayden Carner and Utah's Sergio Jimenez.
 
Kolbe Irei posted an even par 72 and is 1-under for the tournament and tied for 31^st place to lead the Rainbow Warriors. Dane Watanabe carded a 77 and is tied for 63^rd at 148. Blaze Akana posted 78 and is tied for 75^th at 149.
 
Also competing for UH are Josh Hayashida (157, t-108^th) and Tyler Ogawa (160, t-116^th). Four others are entered as individuals – Anson Cabello (155, t-99^th), James Whitworth (156, t-99^th), Isaiah Kanno (155, t-99^th), and Garrett Takeuchi (161, 120^th).
 
The tournament's final round is scheduled for Saturday with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
