HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i softball team (1-4) concluded the Bank of Hawai'i Paradise Classic falling to Ole Miss, 5-1 on Sunday at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Hawai'i's Addison Kostrencich took the loss in a complete game effort. She allowed five runs on 13 hits with a walk while falling to 1-1 on the season.

In the first, Hawai'i load the bases with two outs, but a strikeout thwarted the Rainbow rally.

Ole Miss posted three runs in the third on an RBI-triple and a pair of RBI-singles for the 3-0 lead.

In the fifth, UH's Haley Johnson drove an opposite-field single to left to score Maya Nakamura from second to cut their deficit to 3-1.

But the Rebels (4-1) extended its lead to 5-1 after RBI-singles by Lexie Brady and Jamie Mackay.

Ole Miss got the first two outs to start the seventh inning. But the 'Bows rallied to load the bases as both Izabella Martinez and Haley Johnson and a Xiao Gin single. But the game ended on a fielder's choice to second.

The Rebels' Makenna Kliethermes earned the win, throwing three-and-two-thirds of shut out innings. She allowed two hits and four walks and five strikeouts. Former Rainbow Wahine Brianna Lopez came in relief for an inning-and-a-third giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strike out.
