HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i softball team dropped both ends of their Saturday doubleheader on Day 3 of the Bank of Hawai'i Paradise Classic. The Rainbow Wahine lost a heartbreaker, 3-2 to BYU then fell 15-0 to Ole Miss on Saturday at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Hawai'i sophomore starter Key-Annah Campbell-Pua (0-2) held BYU scoreless through the first six-and-two-thirds innings. But gave up a three-run homer with two outs in the sixth as UH fell short, 3-2. In the loss, Campbell-Pua gave up just three hits with three walks and a strikeout in a complete game effort.
For the second-straight game, senior utility player
Mya'Liah Bethea blasted a solo home run to give UH an early 1-0 lead to start the third inning. It marked her second round-tripper of the season and 16
th of her career.
The 'Bows added another run in the fourth as senior shortstop Xiao Gin drilled an RBI-double to the right-centerfield gap to drive in pinch runner
Larissa Goshi for a 2-0 lead.
The 'Bows got a flyout to right to start the top of the sixth. But a walk and then a fielding error put two runners on. After a groundout, with two outs, BYU's Ailana Agbayani cleared the bases with three-run home run to right to leapfrog UH to a 3-2 lead.
Hawai'i was unable to respond in the bottom of the seventh and the Cougars came away with the come-from-behind victory.
BYU's Chloe Temple (2-0) earned the complete game win, giving up two runs on five hits with a walk and 10 strikeouts.

Ole Miss took control of the game early and pulled away quickly. The Rebels capitalized on UH's nine walks, three beaned batters, and three errors to score in all four innings. Ole Miss racked up the 15 runs on nine hits with seven left on base.
Three of Hawai'I's pitching staff saw action in the game. Starter
Chloe Borges (0-1) took the loss, allowing eight runs on five hits with a pair of walks and a strikeout in 1-1/3 innings. Millie Fidge gave up three runs on one hit with three walks, hit batters, and a strikeout in 1-2/3 innings.
McKenna Kostyszyn threw the final two innings allowing four runs on three hits with four walks and a strikeout.
Catelyn Riley earned the complete game, three-hit shutout over UH. She had a pair of walks and five strikeouts in the mercy rule win.
Seventeen Rainbow Wahine were able to get in the game—including freshmen
Keely Kai,
Jamie McGaughey, and
Madixx Muramoto who all made their Hawai'i debuts. McGaughey and Muramoto both picked up their first collegiate hits of their careers and accounted for two of UH's three hits for the game.
It was UH's worse loss since falling to Oregon in five innings, 17-0 on Feb. 25, 2017 in Honolulu.
The Bank of Hawai'i Paradise Classic concludes on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. HT against Ole Miss.
