Four 'Bows Earn Women's Volleyball Academic All-District Honors

HONOLULU — Four members of the University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team on Tuesday in recognition of their performances on the court and in the classroom.

UH seniors Tayli Ikenaga and Kate Lang and sophomores Stella Adeyemi and Tali Hakas represented the Rainbow Wahine on the Division I list after helping the 'Bows capture the Big West title and reach the NCAA Tournament for the 31st consecutive season.
 
The academic qualification for the Academic All-District teams is a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average. Nominated student-athletes must have participated in at least 90% of the season's games or started in 66% of the games.
 
Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced on Jan. 14.
 
Stella Adeyemi — Sophomore, Outside Hitter
  • Majoring in Public Health
  • Played in all 31 matches with five starts at outside hitter
  • Recorded 250 kills and ranked third on the team with 2.08 kills per set
 
Tali Hakas — Sophomore, Outside Hitter
  • Majoring in Pre-Psychology
  • Named All-Big West Honorable Mention
  • Started all 31 matches and played in all 125 sets
  • Finished third on the team with 259 kills and ranked averaged 2.07 kills per set
  • Ranked second on the team with 364 digs and 2.91 per set
 
Tayli Ikenaga — Senior, Libero
  • Majoring in Elementary Education
  • Started all 31 matches and played in all 125 sets
  • Named Big West Libero of the Year
  • Voted to the All-Big West second team
  • Earned MVP honors at the Big West Championship
  • Led the Big West with 502 total digs and averaged 4.02 per set
 
Kate Lang — Senior, Setter
  • Honors student in Political Science, Women Gender and Sexuality Studies
  • Started all 31 matches and played in all 125 sets
  • Named Big West Setter of the Year for the second time in her career
  • Named All-Big West first team
  • Named AVCA All-Pacific Region Honorable Mention
  • Led the Big West and ranked eighth in NCAA Division I with 1,314 assists
