HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team opened the Rainbow Wahine Fall Invitational on a rain-soaked Thursday. The teams were able to start with doubles after a three-hour delay due to inclement weather. Most players were able to start their singles matches before play was suspended. The teams tried to resume action in the afternoon, but instead play will restart on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
 
In doubles action, the Rainbow Wahine won four of five matches with the one loss coming down to a tie-breaker. UH's Joelle Lanz and Emma Forgac shut out Air Force's Giovanna Sanchirico and Joselyn Limbago, 6-0 to start the day. Ana Vilcek and Nikola Homolkova then defeated the Falcons' Arianna Van Houweling and Nadia Kojonroj, 6-2 and Hawai'i's Peppi Ramstedt and Sheena Masuda pulled away from AF's Alexis Odom and Maya Michalski by the same 6-2 score. The Rainbow Wahine duo of Hannah Galindo and Makeilah Nepomuceno held off Air Forces Sofia Mavor and Shiyaani Selvan by a break, 6-4. UH's Allaire Berl and Jazlyn Miyamura were edged out by Hawai'i Pacific's Sayda Hernandez and Annika Hakovirta in a tie-breaker, 7-6 (2).
 
All the singles matches were suspended due to rain. Play will resume at 2:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex on Friday afternoon.
