Men's Basketball Concludes Homestand Versus Hawai'i Pacific

HONOLULU The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team concludes its season-opening six-game homestand with a matchup versus crosstown rival Hawaii Pacific on Tuesday, Nov. 22. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. at the SimpliFi Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center. 

The Rainbow Warriors are off to a 4-1 start, winning its opening four games before suffering its first loss to the season to No. 10 North Carolina, 87-69, on Nov. 22. The loss snapped the 'Bows 10-game home win streak dating back to last season.

GAME STORY LINES
  • This is the sixth straight year that the teams meet in the regular-season.
  • The 'Bows have won each of the previous five by double-digits.
  • The 'Bows saw their 10-game home win streak dating back to last season snapped with an 87-69 loss to North Carolina on Nov. 22.
  • Graduate transfer Tanner Christensen leads the team at 16.0 ppg and is shooting 73 percent from the floor (30-of-41) which ranks 9th in the NCAA.
  • Second-year HPU head coach Jesse Nakanishi returns to Manoa after serving on Eran Ganot's staff at UH for three seasons (2018-2021).
  • After winning its first two games, the Sharks have dropped its last three contests, all of them coming in Northern California.  
  • The Rainbow Warriors have sported offensive balance and depth early on. Five players are averaging double-digit scoring, while seven are averaging at least 7.0 ppg or more.
