DALLAS, Texas — The University of Hawai'i men's and women's swim teams earned a pair top four finishes in relay competitions to kickoff the SMU Invitational at the Roberson & Lindley Aquatics Center on Wednesday night. The nine-team invitational includes BYU, Drury, Hawai'i, Miami, North Carolina, North Texas, Stanford, Wyoming and host SMU.
The Rainbow Wahine's "A" team of Alexa Ozment, Mandolin Nguyen, Isabelle Meraz and Holly Nelson opened the SMU Invitational placing third in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:39.82. In an earlier head, UH's
"B" team of
Eva Kovaluk, Catherin Belyakov,
Kaya Takashige and
Zofia Tyminska clocked in with a time of 1:40.08 to win the heat and finish in fourth-place overall.
The Rainbow Warrior squad of Karol Ostrowski, Tom Caps, Jordan Meacham and Dietrich Meyer finished fourth in the 200 medley relay posting a mark of 1:24.93 as they almost eclipsed UH's all-time record of 1:24.44.
The 'Bows begin action tomorrow with the preliminaries at 6:00 a.m. HT, followed by diving competitions at 9:00 a.m. HT and swimming finals at 2:00 p.m. HT.
