HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team capped off the final day of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate with its best round of the tournament to finish in ninth place Sunday at the Highland Ranch Golf Club.
The Rainbow Wahine shot 1-under 287 for a 10-over 874 total, which is the third-lowest 54-hole score in program history. The 287 also tied for the third-lowest single round ever.
Leading the way was newcomer
Maline Kraus, who tied the program's 54-hole score with a 5-under 211 total after carding a final round 3-under 69 to finish in a tie for fifth place. The Düsseldorf, Germany native posted five birdies in her round and 14 for the tournament. Her 211 total tied the program record set by Momo Sugiyama at the 2022 Fresno State Classic.
Another highlight of the day was
Syamala Varnika Achanta's hole in one at the 13
th hole which helped her card a final round even par 72 to finish 6-over 222 and 45
th place. The San Jose, Calif., native also posted an eagle on the 18
th hole.
Freshman
Maddie Dustin concluded her first collegiate tournament with a final round 1-under 71 to finish in a tie for 51
st place at 224. Fellow freshman
Mia Hirashima also capped her first collegiate event with a 76 and tie for 73
rd place at 232.
Emiko Sverduk finished with a final round 75 for a 1-over 217 total and tie for 22
nd place.
The Rainbow Wahine will return to the islands to close out the fall season with the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, Oct. 21-23, and the Nanea Invitational, Oct. 28-30.
