The University of Hawai'i women's golf will make its third appearance at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate in the last four seasons this week in Highland Ranch, Colo. The tournament runs Friday, Oct. 4 through Sunday, Oct. 6 at the Highlands Ranch Golf Course.
The University of Denver hosts the 14-team tournament which will be played at the par-72, 6,611-yard course. UH is the only Big West Conference school among the field which includes,
Colorado, Colorado State, Kansas State, New Mexico, Middle Tennessee, San Diego State, Texas State, Tulane, UNLV, Wichita State, Wyoming, and Xavier.
UH will send a five-member contingent –
Emiko Sverduk,
Maline Kraus,
Syamala Varnika Achanta,
Maddie Dustin, and
Mia Hirashima – the latter of two who will be making their collegiate debuts. Dustin is a graduate of Cascade High in Salem, Ore., while Hirashima prepped at Moanalua High in Honolulu. Achanta and Kraus each made their UH debut last month at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, where the Rainbow Wahine opened the 2024-25 season, finishing in 15
th place. Sverduk led Hawai'i in that tournament with a 231 total.
In the 2021 Ron Moore Intercollegiate, UH tied for seventh place with two golfers finishing in the Top 20. The following year, the Rainbow Wahine placed 15
th overall.
Following this week's tournament, Hawai'i will host the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, Oct. 21-23 at the Kapolei Golf Course in west O'ahu.
