SALEM, Ore. – True freshman
Emilie Kirk Langschwager continued her strong start to her collegiate career by leading the Hawai'i women's cross country team for the second straight meet with a seventh-place finish in the Charles Bowles Invitational Saturday. UH finished in fourth place as a team with 124 points.
"Great efforts across the board, our eight runners PR'd by an average of 45 seconds for 5,000 meters," said head coach
Tim Boyce. "A great building block for our season. Emilie had one of the top performances in school history and her teammates competed really well to support her effort."
The freshman out of Denmark ran the fourth-fastest time in program history in a 5k race, crossing the line in 17:27.0 for the best time by a Rainbow Wahine runner since 2010. Kirk Langschwager ended as the top UH finisher for the second-straight meet after coming in second in each of her first two collegiate competitions.
A trio of true freshman ended as the next three Hawai'i finishers, with
Jessica Duran coming in 21st with a time of 18:11.6 followed close behind by
Zola O'Donnell with a mark of 18:20.2 while
Abby Crossley rounded out the top four with a time of 18:46.1.
Tania Tan stopped the clock with a time of 18:55.7 while
Alexandra Zanon ran a 19:10.1 and
Ania Magdesian finished with a time of 19:15.5 to complete the top seven for the Rainbow Wahine.
The 'Bows will next compete in the HPU Invitational at Kahuku Golf Course on Oct. 7 starting at 7 a.m.
