EDMONTON, Canada – Former University of Hawai'i All-American middle blocker Patrick Gasman was named the Most Valuable Player of the NORCECA Men's Pan American Cup Final Six after leading the Americans to the tournament title.
Team USA defeated Canada in the finals, 25-21, 25-14, 25-16 to finish the tournament unbeaten while dropping only one set in six matches. The gold medal was the first for the U.S. in the event after finishing third in its two previous appearances.
Gasman, who served as team captain, was also selected as the tournament's Best Blocker after recording seven blocks in the finals. He also had eight blocks in a pool play match against the Canadians and finished the tournament with 19 total blocks.
Team USA setter Andrew Rowan received the Best Setter award outside hitter Jordan Ewert was earned both the Top Server and Top Spiker awards.
