Amber Gilbert scored the tying goal in the 84
th minute and the Rainbow Wahine soccer team opened the season with a 1-1 draw with Utah Valley in the OUTRIGGER Soccer Kickoff on Thursday at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

Sophie Augustin made six saves and withstood a Utah Valley charge in the final minute to preserve the tie with the Wolverines, the Western Athletic Conference regular-season champions.
Utah Valley outshot UH 7-2 iin the first half and Augustin came up with four saves, including two shots off of corner kicks late in the first half, to keep the match scoreless going into halftime. UVU keeper Idalia Serrano turned away both of UH's shots in the opening half.
Utah Valley broke through in the 59
th minutes when Faith Webber scored on a cross from Ruby Hladek.
UH went on the attack in the second half with seven shots to UVU's four and tied the match when Gilbert ran down a pass from UH senior
Kelci Sumida, got past the UVU defense and buried her shot into the bottom right corner of the net.
In the first game of Thursday's doubleheader, Gonzaga did all of its scoring in the first half of a 3-0 win over Houston Christian. The Bulldogs fired 14 shots to the Huskies' seven.
The tournament concludes Sunday with Utah Valley taking on Houston Christian at 1:30 p.m. and the Rainbow Wahine face Gonzaga at 4.
