PROVO, Utah – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team placed 10
th at the PING Cougar Classic following Saturday's final round at the Riverside Country Club.
The Rainbow Warriors carded a final round 292 to finish with an 861 total. Host Brigham Young captured the team title with a 824 total while Boise State's Max Charles took medalist honors at 19-under 197.
UH sat in fifth place after Friday's opening round with a season-best 11-under 277. However the 'Bows followed with consecutive rounds of 292.
Atsuya Oishi was the team's top finisher in a tie for 26
th place at 4-under 212. The sophomore shot 2-under 70 in his second and third rounds and concluded the tournament with a team-best 11 birdies.
Blaze Akana also finished the tournament under par with a 1-under 215 total despite a final round 75. The Honolulu native opened with a 4-under 68 in Round 1.
Remington Hirano, who opened with a career-best 5-under 67 in the first round, tied for 53
rd at 3-over 219.
Tyler Ogawa tied for 71
st at 223 while
Josh Hayashida tied for 73
rd at 224.
The 'Bows will next compete in the Big West Championship, April 30-May 2 in La Quinta, Calif.
