LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team moved up two spots into sixth place after round two of the Big West Championship Monday at the Spanish Trail Country Club.
The Rainbow Wahine carded a 302 for a 613 total heading into Tuesday's final round. Cal Poly (591) holds a one stroke lead over Long Beach State (592) in the team standings. UH and Cal Poly are the defending co-champions.
Individually, UH's
Hyeonji Kang and
Mayumi Umezu are tied for sixth place at 4-over 148. Kang carded a second round 1-over 73 while Umezu shot 75. The pair are chasing Long Beach State's Jasmine Leovao who is dominating the field at 6-under 138 and is the only golfer under par. She holds a seven-stroke lead over Cal Poly's Nicole Neale and UC Riverside's Tiffany Le, who are 1-over 145 for the tournament.
Among UH's other participants,
Focus Jonglikit is tied for 21
st at 154 after a 2-over 74 on Monday.
Monica Johnson carded an 80 and sits in 40
th place at 163. Alternate
Ting-Yu Liu entered the lineup for
Wendy Song and shot 82.
The tournament concludes on Tuesday. UH will be paired with UC Davis and Cal State Fullerton.
