Women's Basketball Signs Michigan State Transfer

HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team added a familiar name to its 2023 signing class as head coach Laura Beeman announced the addition of Michigan State transfer Brooklyn Rewers to the Rainbow Wahine roster. Rewers, a 6-4 post player, will have two years of eligibility upon her arrival in Manoa.

The native of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, appeared in 30 games over the last two seasons with the Spartans. She came off the bench in 17 games this past year for a Michigan State squad that finished 16-14. She was also named to the Academic All-Big Ten team in 2022-23. Rewers' brings lineage to Hawai'i as her older sister Lauren was a standout player in the UH frontcourt for three seasons (2017-20).

"We're so excited that Brooklyn has decided to join our 'ohana," Beeman said. "She'll bring additional size, versatility and experience to our post play. Brooklyn is excited to forge her own path while in Hawai'i. She's an exceptional teammate and student on top of everything else. Aloha to Brooklyn and the entire Rewers 'ohana!"

Prior to joining the college ranks, Rewers enjoyed a stellar high school career in Idaho. A two-time all-state player for Lake City High School, she led the state in scoring and blocks during her junior campaign. She was also named the Inland Empire League 5A Player of the Year twice and left Lake City having scored more than 1,000 career points.

Rewers is the fourth player in UH's 2023 signing class, joining fellow frontcourt signees Vivienne Berrett (6-4 center) and Brooke Murrell (6-2 forward), as well as 6-0 guard Jade Peacock.
