SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – University of Hawai'i's
Blaze Akana and
Josh Hayashida each shot 1-over 71 on the first day of the 76
th Western Intercollegiate Monday at Pasatiempo Golf Club.
The pair currently sit in a tie for 40
th place heading into Tuesday's second round. As a team, the Rainbow Warriors are in 14
th place with a 366 total.
California leads the team standings at 334 followed by Oregon (335), Stanford (339), and Pepperdine (345). Individually, Cal's Aaron Du carded a 7-under 63 for the first round lead. Stanford's Michael Thorbjornsen and Oregon's Gregory Solhaug are one stroke back.
Atsuya Oishi shot 72 and is tied for 52
nd while
Zachary Sagayaga and
Remington Hirano each posted 76 for a tie for 80
th.
Tyler Ogawa rounded out UH's contingent with a 79 for 90
th place.
