Men's Tennis Falls to UC Irvine, 5-2

The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team (8-6, 2-1 Big West) fell in its final home conference match of the season 5-2 to UC Irvine on Saturday afternoon at the UH Tennis Complex. 

The Rainbow Warriors captured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and 2. UH's No. 2 duo of Kilian Maitre and Axel Labrunie set the tone for the Rainbow Warriors finishing first defeating UCI's Thomas Smart and Enrique Luque Rico, 6-2. Hawai'i's top pair of Andre Ilagan and Lucas Labrunie secured the doubles point for UH knocking off Noa Zamora and Brandon Park, 6-4.

The Anteaters reeled off four-straight singles wins to clinch the match. Only UH's 68th-ranked Ilagan was able notch a singles win. He battled back after dropping the first set to cruise in the last two sets to defeat UCI's Rico, 5-7, 6-0, 6-2..

The Rainbow Warriors will celebrate Senior Day on Tuesday, April 4th hosting its final home match against Cal Lutheran. First serve is set for 3:30 p.m. HT at the UH Tennis Complex.Hawai'i will be honoring its four seniors–Cody Castro, Andre Ilagan, and Axel and Lucas Labrunie.
