Rainbow Wahine Blank Portland State For Fifth Straight Win

HONOLULU -- The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team continued to roll with a 4-0 win over Portland State in a non-conference match Wednesday at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine improved to 8-6 on the season with its fifth straight win. 

UH started the competition by taking the doubles point with wins on two of three courts. The UH duo of Madison Kim and Satsuki Takamura were particularly convincing with a 6-0 shutout of Makato Ohara and Emily Rees on the No. 3 court. 

Kim would also go on to give UH its first singles point of the day with a 6-1, 6-4 straight-set win over Nell Arendt at No. 6. Rita Pinto would follow suit at the No. 5 flight giving UH a 3-0 dual match lead following an impressive 6-3, 6-1 win over Emily Rees. It marked Pinto's fifth straight win on the No. 5 court.  Klara Novakova proceeded to clinch the dual with a dominating 6-2, 6-1 win over Ohara. With UH having already claimed the dual, the remaining three courts went unfinished with UH up a set on all three. 

The Rainbow Wahine now turn its attention to its final two home matches of the season. The 'Bows will host Cal Poly on Thursday, March 30 at 2:30 p.m. before playing its Senior Day match against UC San Diego on Saturday, April 1 at 11:00 a.m.
