KA'ANAPALI, Maui – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team completed the first round of the Ānuenue Spring Break Classic Monday at Kā'anapali's Royal Course.
The Rainbow Wahine carded a 300 and currently sit in 13
th place. Denver holds a nine-stroke lead after a 13-under 275 followed by Pepperdine (284) and UCLA (286).
UH is led by freshman
Wendy Song, who is tied for 29
th overall at even par 72. Sophomore
Hyeonji Kang and junior
Focus Jonglikit each carded 2-over 74 and are tied for 40
th overall. Also competing for the team are
Mayumi Umezu (80, t-71
st) and Tin-Yu Liu (85; 78
th).
Two others are entered as individuals –
Kralyn Salazar (79; t-68
th) and
Monica Johnson (86; 79
th).
UCLA's Zoe Campos is Round 1 leader at 6-under 66 followed by Denver's Alyson Bean and Clara Gestsdottir and Stanford's Sadie Englemann, who each shot 67.
The tournament continues with Round 2 on Tuesday with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.
