NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – The No. 2 University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team completed its two-match sweep of No. 14 CSUN with another straight-set win, Saturday at Premier America Credit Union Arena. Set scores were 25-17, 25-18, 25-15.
With the win, the Rainbow Warriors (20-2, 3-1 BWC) notched their 20
th win of the season for the 12
th time in program history. Head coach
Charlie Wade has led Hawai'i to five 20-win seasons in 14 seasons at the helm. UH also remained undefeated in seven road matches this season.
Hawai'i tallied a season-high 13.5 blocks, reaching double-digits in roofs for the third straight match. The 'Bows out-hit CSUN .392-.085 while also adding six service aces, including one from
Spyros Chakas to end the match.
Dimitrios Mouchlias led the way offensively, finishing with 13 kills on 23 swings, hitting .522, while
Chaz Galloway added seven kills while hitting .429.
Guilherme Voss led the Rainbow Warrior block party with six while Mouchlias finished with five and Chakas recorded four.
The Rainbow Warriors dominated from the start, opening a 10-4 lead in the first on the way to a 25-17 opening set victory. UH then hit .714 as a team in set two to win 25-18 and take a 2-0 lead in the match before holding CSUN -.182 hitting in the final set to finish off the sweep with a 25-15 win.
The Rainbow Warriors return to the court with two more road matches at UC Santa Barbara, Friday, March 30 and Saturday, April 1 in Santa Barbara, Calif.
