PALM DESERT, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team carded a first round 293 and sits in sixth place following the first round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate Wednesday at the Classic Club.
The Rainbow Warriors are seven strokes off the lead held by Fresno State (286) heading into Thursday's second round. Hawai'i is also the top Big West team among the six competing this week.
Atsuya Oishi posted even par 72 to pace the Warriors and sit in a tie for 12
th place. One stroke back is
Tyler Ogawa, who carded a 1-over 73, good for a tie for 19
th.
Josh Hayashida and
Blaze Akana each shot 2-over 74 while
Remington Hirano rounded out the group with a 78.
Sacramento State's Riley Bell is the clubhouse leader at 5-under 67, two strokes ahead of Utah's Javier Barcos and Fresno State's Joseph Lloyd.
