ATHENS, Ga. – The Hawai'i women's 400 freestyle relay team secured a spot in the NCAA Championships after posting an A cut time while shattering the school record again Sunday at the Georgia Last Chance Meet.
The history-making Rainbow Wahine relay team of
Holly Nelson,
Laticia Transom,
Anna Friedrich and
Gabrielle Scudamore swam a 3:12.76 in the 400 free relay, lowering their time by over two seconds to earn an automatic bid to be a part of the NCAA field in the event.
It's the third time that the squad of four has broken the program record this year, while the mark is also the ninth-fastest in the country in the 2022-23 season. Nelson opened the relay with a 49.07, followed by Transom with a 46.66 and Friedrich with a 48.55 before Scudamore anchored with a 48.48 to bring it home.
The Hawai'i swimming and diving programs will turn their attention to the NCAA postseason, starting with the Zone E Diving Championships March 6-8 in Federal Way, Wash.
