Box Score SAN DIEGO—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (3-4) won their second-straight road match on a blustery Thursday by defeating San Diego State at the Aztec Tennis Center. With the win, the Rainbow Wahine snapped the Aztecs' three-match win streak and were able defeated their three ranked singles players (one by retirement).
 
The Rainbow Wahine secured the doubles point with wins on the No. 2 and No. 1 courts. Klara Novakova and Rita Pinto knocked off SDSU's Tamara Arnold and Dariya Detkovskaya to start the day, 6-2. UH's No. 1 duo of Nikola Homolkova and Ana Vilcek held off Alicia Melosch and Rania Azziz by a break, 6-4 to take the early, 1-0 lead. UH's No. 3 Madison Kim and Satsuki Takamura's match went unfinished leading 5-4 against Anjela Skrobonja and Andreea Velcea.
 
Hawai'i went up 2-0 when on the No. 2 court, Homolkova's match was cut short when San Diego State's 120th-ranked Arnold retired with Homokova leading 3-0 in the first set. The Aztecs got one point back when Azziz defeated Kim at No. 5, 6-0, 6-1. The 'Bows extended their lead to 3-1 when Takamura defeated No. 88 Detkovskaya in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2. Pinto then clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Velcea on the No. 6 court.
 
The Aztecs' No. 4 Melosch rallied and came back to defeat UH's Novakova in three sets 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. Hawai'i's No. 1 Vilcek outlasted 116th-ranked Skrobonja in a highly contested battle with Vilcek coming away victorious in a third set super tie-breaker, 7-6 (3), 4-6, 1-0 (8).
 
The Rainbow Wahine will conclude this leg of their road trip on Saturday, Feb. 18 when they take on No. 18 San Diego at the Hogan Tennis Center.
