Women's Volleyball To Face Iowa State in NCAA Tournament First Round

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—The University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team (23-8) will be heading to Eugene, Ore. for the 2023 NCAA Tournament's First and Second Rounds as announced on Sunday afternoon. Hawai'i will face seventh-seeded Iowa State (20-9) out of the Big XII in the first round on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 2:00 p.m. HT at the Matthew Knight Arena. Host and No. 2 seed Oregon (26-5) will take on Southeastern Louisiana (28-4) in their first round match-up.
 
Led by head coach Robyn Ah Mow, the Rainbow Wahine have now won four-straight Big West titles. UH received the Big West's automatic bid after winning the inaugural Outrigger Big West Championship title with dominant sweeps over Cal Poly in the semifinals the host Long Beach State in the championship match.
 
This is Hawai'i's 30th-straight and 41st overall appearance in the NCAA tournament. UH is one of four teams to have competed in the NCAA Tournament more than 40 times—Stanford (42, Pac-12 AQ in '23), Nebraska (42, Big 10 AQ in '23), and Penn State (42). During the previous 40 years of the championship, 12 schools have won a national title, eight of which earned a place in this year's bracket. Previous winners competing in the field are:  Hawaii (1982, 83, 87),  Kentucky (2020), Nebraska (1995, 2000, 06, 15, 17), Southern California (1981, 2002, 03), Stanford (1992, 94, 96, 97, 2001, 04, 16, 18, 19), Penn St. (1999, 2007, 08, 09, 10, 13, 14),  Texas  (1988, 2012, 2022), and Wisconsin (2021).
