Beach Volleyball Fall Schedule 2023

BeachBows Ready For Fall Competition

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i beach volleyball program will engage in elite competition this fall in preparation for its 2024 spring campaign. For the second straight season, UH will compete in three fall events, all of them in pairs format.

The schedule is headlined by the second annual AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach Pairs Championship in Huntsville, Ala. The event will take place Nov. 3-5 and will include 64 pairs selected from schools across the country. Last year two UH pairs (Brooke Van Sickle-Kaylee Glagau and Jamie Santer-Kylin Loker) competed in the field.

The Rainbow Wahine will look to have two pairs make it to the nationals again. Much of that will depend on how the team does in the upcoming West Coast Championship, Oct. 20-22, in Manhattan Beach. The tournament will serve as a qualifier for the AVCA Nationals in early November.

"These fall competitions are great opportunities for us," head coach Evan Silberstein said. "They are motivating and fun for the student athletes to compete in. We also get lots of excellent feedback to develop new pairings and inform our training model as we look ahead to the team competition schedule in spring."

UH will conclude its fall campaign by hosting Florida State and Cal Poly in the inaugural Kaua'i Invitational, Nov. 17-19 at Kalapaki Beach in Lihue. The Invitational will feature pairs competition throughout the weekend.

"Getting the team over to Kauai to compete this fall is a dream come true," Silberstein said. "My vision is to integrate program outreach and neighbor island experience with our exciting brand of collegiate beach volleyball. It's a win-win for athletes and community alike. We are counting the days to make this inaugural event something really special for everyone who attends."

The Rainbow Wahine return more than a dozen players from last year's squad that won 27 matches and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season. Headlining the group is two-time first team All-American Kaylee Glagau. The complete 2024 Rainbow Wahine beach volleyball roster can be viewed here.
