The Rainbow Warriors open their weekend with a double-header right off the bat. On Friday, UH will first face host UNLV in their season opener at 8:00 A.M. HT followed by a non-conference meeting with Big West opponent UC Riverside (0-3) at 10:00 A.M. HT. On Saturday, the 'Bows will compete against Weber State (0-1) at 10:00 A.M. HT and then end their four-match stint against former WAC opponent, New Mexico State in their opening weekend of play at 6:00 A.M. HT on Sunday.

On paper, UH has gotten off to a slow start, but they have faced fierce competition in the first two weeks of action, opening with No. 16 Florida State, 20 Duke, UCLA and a one-day tourney competing against California and the Blue Devils. Senior Andre Ilagan is currently 1-3 in singles with his win coming over 84th-ranked Pedro Rodenas of Duke. But he has taken on a gauntlet of ranked players in all his matches, facing No. 4 Garrett Johns (Duke), No. 12 Antoine Cornut-Charuvinc (Florida State), No. 83 Alexander Hoogmartens (UCLA) and Rodenas. In doubles, Ilagan and partner Karl Collins have posted a 2-2 record thus far. Both wins have come on the No. 1 court against FSU's Cornut-Charuvinc and Barnaby Smith (6-4) and Cal's Lucas Magnaudet and Ryder Jackson (6-3).

Last week at UCLA, Axel Labrunie led Hawai'i, winning his doubles match with partner Kilian Maitre, 6-4 over Timothy Li and Hoogmartens. In singles, he won his first set against 89th-ranked Giacomo Revelli before falling by a break in both of the final two sets, 6-4, 4-6, 5-7.
