Box Score HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (1-2) fell to Washington, 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at the UH Tennis Complex. The Huskies raced out to clinch the win leading 4-0, but Hawai'i's No. 2 Ana Vilcek and No. 6 Rita Pinto both broke through with singles wins to end the match.

In doubles, UH's No. 1 duo of Nikola Homolkova and Klara Novakova cruised past UW's Astrid Olsen and Jennifer Kerr, 6-2 to start the match. Washington then edged out the Rainbow Wahine with a pair of tie-breaker wins on Courts No. 2 and 3 to capture the doubles point. On the No. 2 court 56th ranked Sarah-Maude Fortin and Erika Matsuda held off UH's Satsuki Takamura and Vilcek, 7-6 (4), while Hikaru Sato and Melissa Sakar clinched the doubles point defeating Madison Kim and Alexis Merrill, 7-6 (5).

The Huskies then reeled off the first four singles wins with Kerr clinching the match on the No. 4 court. But the highlights of the match came when UH's No. 6 Pinto earned her first singles win as a Rainbow Wahine, holding off UW's Matsuda by a tie-breaker in the first set, but coasting in the second set, 7-6 (3), 6-1. On the No. 2 court, Vilcek fought back after dropping the first set tie-breaker to even the match by taking the second set. In the super tie-breaker, Vilcek jumped out to a 7-3 lead, but Fortin closed to within one point at 8-7. Vilcek hung on to win, 10-8.

Hawai'i will conclude their month-long opening homestand with a pair of matches against Arizona on Friday, Feb. 10 and Sat., Feb. 11. Friday's match will begin at 2:30 p.m. and Saturday's first serve is slated for 11:00 a.m..
