COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho –
Mayumi Umezu shot a first round 2-over 73 to lead the University of Hawai'i women's golf team at the Coeur d'Alene Collegiate Sunday at the Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course.
The sophomore from Waimea, Hawai'i carded one birdie and three bogeys in her round and sits in a tie for 24
th place among the field of 100 golfers. Sophomore
Hyeonji Kang was one stroke behind Umezu with a 3-over 74 and is tied for 34
th.
Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine are
Wendy Song (77, t-71
st),
Monica Johnson (81, t-95
th), and
Ting-Yu Liu (89, t-99
th).
As a team, UH stands in 18
th place. Sacramento State holds the first round lead at even par 284. Florida International's Karissa Kilby and San Francisco's Yvonne Shang share the individual lead at 4-under 67.
The tournament continues with Round 2 on Monday.
