Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Title IX and Rainbow Wahine Athletics

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i at Mānoa is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Title IX and Rainbow Wahine athletics with a series of events happening over the next few months. "Wahine on the Rise" is tagged as the overarching theme incorporating the milestone anniversary.

"Wahine on the Rise – Day of Giving" kicks off on Sept. 1. This event is specifically celebrating Rainbow Wahine athletics. This significant day marks the home opener for Rainbow Wahine Volleyball, our first and most storied women's program. Please join us in celebration and donation at https://hui.uhfoundation.org/g/wahine to provide continued support to the success of our female student-athletes.

"Wahine on the Rise – Field Day" will be held on Sept. 10 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletic Complex. The events are free to the general public and feature interactive activities with Rainbow Wahine teams, food and beverage options, DJ music, and an opportunity to receive free tickets to the Rainbow Wahine volleyball game against USC that night (Sept. 10).

"Wahine on the Rise – The Celebration" will be the final event of the series on Oct. 14 at the SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. This fundraising dinner event is SOLD OUT and will be a night of celebration featuring three female chefs preparing the meals in Chef Lee Anne Wong of Koko Head Café, Chef Robynne Mai'i of Fete, and Chef Michelle Carr-Ueoka of MW. Entertainment will be provided by Na Leo Pilimehana and Cha Thompson. World champion surfer Carissa Moore will serve as honorary chair.
