First Hawaiian Bank Announced as Jersey Patch Sponsor For Women’s Volleyball, Men’s Basketball

HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i at Mānoa Athletics Department announced that First Hawaiian Bank will serve as the official jersey patch sponsor for Rainbow Wahine volleyball and Rainbow Warrior basketball programs.

The agreement comes just one day after Hawaiian Airlines was unveiled as the inaugural jersey patch sponsor for Rainbow Warrior football, marking a historic week of corporate partnerships for UH Athletics.

Fans will get their first look at the new uniforms this week when the women's volleyball team debuts the First Hawaiian Bank patches at the season-opening Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic.

A longtime Proud Corporate Partner of UH Athletics and a premier partner at the Platinum Level, First Hawaiian Bank is deeply embedded into multiple sports across the athletics calendar. Their ongoing commitment enhances both the game-day environment and the overall fan experience, supporting the university's mission both on and off the court.

"First Hawaiian Bank has always been an incredible partner to our university, and we are thrilled to expand that relationship with this jersey patch sponsorship," said UH Mānoa Director of Athletics Matt Elliott. "To see their logo on the jerseys of our volleyball and basketball teams is a testament to their belief in our student-athletes. Between this sponsorship and their foundational support of our NIL programs, First Hawaiian Bank is helping us adapt and thrive in this new era of college athletics."

The jersey patch agreement expands upon First Hawaiian Bank's recently announced $1 million commitment to the athletics department's Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) initiative. Through that transformative donation, First Hawaiian Bank became one of 10 founding members of the newly formed Shoji Society within the 'Bows Athletics Club. The investment provides critical NIL support to help UH Mānoa retain homegrown talent, recruit high-level student-athletes, and remain competitive in a rapidly evolving Division I landscape.

"First Hawaiian Bank has been a longstanding partner of the University of Hawaiʻi, and we're excited to deepen that relationship through our support of UH's Women's Volleyball and Men's Basketball teams," said Bob Harrison, Chairman, President and CEO of First Hawaiian Bank. "UH is Hawaiʻi's home team, bringing our community together and giving us all something to rally around. We're proud to support the student-athletes who represent our university and our state."

"We are absolutely fired up to debut these new jerseys this weekend in front of our incredible fans," added first-year women's volleyball head coach Joshua Walker. "First Hawaiian Bank's investment speaks volumes about their dedication to women's sports and our student-athletes. This partnership elevates our program and gives our student-athletes the resources they need to keep Hawai'i volleyball competing on the national stage."

"We appreciate First Hawaiian Bank's commitment to our student-athletes and their addition to our jerseys this season," said men's head basketball coach Eran Ganot. "In this new era of college basketball, broad support from across our local business community is essential for our program to continue competing at the highest level."

The UH Athletics and First Hawaiian Bank marketing sponsorship is managed by Hawaii Sports Properties, the university's athletics multimedia rightsholder and Honolulu-based Learfield team.

"The momentum surrounding Hawaiʻi Athletics has never been stronger, fueled by outstanding accomplishments across their programs and growing support from fans," said Deana Barnes, EVP of Learfield. "Partnering with First Hawaiian Bank through this exciting jersey patch sponsorship with men's basketball and women's volleyball brings together two organizations that proudly represent Hawaiʻi."
