HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i softball team (22-17, 16-8 Big West) sent their five seniors out in style as the Rainbow Wahine recorded its first ever sweep over Cal State Fullerton in the twenty seasons that the two teams have been conference opponents. Hawai'i took both ends of Saturday's doubleheader at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. UH held off the Titans, 13-11 in a thrilling, eight inning ending with a two-run, walk-off home run by Dallas Millwood. In the series finale, senior Nawai Kaupe accounted for both runs of the 2-0 shutout over the Titans. Freshman Brianna Lopez earned the win in relief in the opener and got her third save of the season in the finale in relief of Chloe Borges who picked up her first win since March 19. It was the final home games for Hawai'i's five seniors—Kaeli Bush, Mikaela Gandia-Mak, Nawai Kaupe, Ashley Murphy and Brittnee Rossi

GAME 1: Hawai'i 13, Cal State Fullerton 11 (8 innings)
Hawai'i squandered an early nine run lead as the Titans chipped away to catch UH at 11-11 in the sixth. CSF forced the game to go to extra innings, which ended with Millwood blasting the 'Bows past Cal State Fullerton, 13-11. .  UH's rookie pitcher Brianna Lopez earned the win in relief tossing the final two-and-a-third innings. It was UH's  first walk-off win since defeating UC Riverside on an RBI-single by Rossi on April 17, 2021

After snapping its 16-game losing streak to CSF the night before, Hawai'i's win to start Saturday's doubleheader gave UH its first series win over Cal State Fullerton since 2015.

Senior Ashley Murphy got the start and threw the first four-and-two-thirds innings allowing six runs on nine hits with a walk and a strikeout. Chloe Borges then tossed an inning of middle relief allowing five runs on two hits with two walks. Lopez kept the Titans at bay allowed just one hit with a walk and a strikeout in two-and-a-third innings pitched as she improved to 13-7.

The Titans got off to a quick start, taking advantage of a couple of UH errors to scratch out a run in the first.

Hawai'i answered right back in the bottom of the first. UH loaded the bases with one out on a walk and two hit batters. Cal State Fullerton's Myka Sutherland then got a strike out and the first two strikes on Dallas Millwood before she ripped a long single off the right-centerfield wall to drive in both Rossi and Ka'ena Keliinoi to leapfrog over CSF for a 2-1 lead.

The Titans put the pressure on the UH defense in the third. Antuanette Dean led off with a single to short then quickly stole second and went to third on a wild pitch with no outs. UH then got a line out to left and then the 'Bows turned their 24th double play of the season as Bethea caught a liner in right, fired to the cut Kaupe fired to Bush at home to gun down Dean trying to score.

The Rainbow Wahine then erupted for eight runs to extend their lead to 10-1 after three complete innings. Nakamura led off with a walk and after a line out to third, Millwood followed with a single. Mikaela Gandia-Mak then smacked a single to left-center to drive in Nakamura. Kaeli Bush then drew a walk to load the bases. Bethea followed by launching a grand slam to clear the bases to center. It marked Bethea's second home run of the season and her career. Hawai'i kept things going. With two runners on, Keliinoi lined an RBI single up the middle to drive in Rossi. After a Titan pitching change, Nakamura drilled a single to left to drive in Kaupe and Keliinoi capped the inning scoring on a wild pitch.

Cal State Fullerton began the next half inning with four-consecutive hits which yielded a pair of runs. The Titans added three more runs in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Daisy Munoz that scored Megan Delgaldill from third; a wild pitch; and an RBI-double by Alyssa Hernandez that scored Peyton Toto from second to close their deficit to 10-6.

Rossi led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run to center. It marked the third of the season and 16th of her career to give UH an 11-6 lead.

In the sixth, after an out, the Titans loaded the bases with one out on a single, a hit batter, and a walk. Jessi Alcala hit a sharp grounder to third. On the play UH's Rachel Sabourin made a diving stop going towards second, her only play was to toss to second from her knees to get the second but a run scored on the play. After another walk juiced the bases again, Toto hit a two-RBI double to left. After a pitching change, Hernandez then laced a single to center to score two more runs to tie the game at 11-11.

Both teams were unable to produce any run in the seventh, so UH entered their third extra-inning game of the season. In the top of the eighth, the Titans drew a leadoff walk, but then the next three straight outs.

In the bottom of the eighth, Izabella Martinez led off with a single up the middle. Millwood then launched an 0-2 pitch high over the centerfield fence for the walk off win. It marked her fifth homer of the season and seventh of her career.
