University of Hawai'i junior setter Jakob Thelle was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 team in the At-Large category.
 
The Tonsberg, Norway native was one of two volleyball players selected to the 11-member list which also includes UH men's tennis player Andre Ilagan. The at-large category includes a number of sports including beach volleyball, golf, tennis, swimming & diving, and water polo among others.
 
Thelle is the first Rainbow Warrior volleyball player named to the list since Stijn van Tilburg in 2019 and now advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
 
District 8 includes the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawai'i, Oregon, Utah, and Washington and Canada.
 
Besides Thelle and van Tilburg, other Rainbow Warriors selected to the Academic All-District 8 team include Taylor Averill (2015), Jonas Umlauft (2011). Costas Theocharidis (2002-03), and Dejan Miladinovic (2002).
